Perth man to be extradited to SA to face murder charge

A man will be extradited to South Australia to face murder charges after he crashed his car into a lamppost and later died from injuries related to the alleged attack.

Alan Kiplimo, 22, appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court late on Friday, where an application for his extradition on an interstate arrest warrant was granted.

Kiplimo, from Perth’s north-eastern suburbs, was arrested earlier in the day and made no attempt to apply for bail.

He will be detained overnight and flown to Adelaide on Saturday.

He is expected to be charged by SA police with the murder of 24-year-old Caleb Leriano and appear in an Adelaide court at a later date.

Detective Inspector Andrew Macrae said: “We are delighted to be able to share today’s developments with Caleb’s family.”

SA Police said Mr Leriano’s red BMW sedan crashed into a lamppost in Adelaide’s southern suburbs about 1.30am on Wednesday.

Police stated that the person suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of a beating before the accident and died at the scene.
