The Cleveland Browns may be one of the worst teams in the NFL midway through the season, but one veteran player didn’t want to see himself shipped out before the league’s trade deadline Tuesday.
Tight end David Njoku has spent his entire career in Cleveland since being drafted 29th overall in 2017. He represented the Browns as one of their leaders on and off the field for the past nine seasons and loved every second of it.
Cleveland is 55-84-1 since entering the league, but Njoku gave a passionate response to reporters asking for his reaction to not being traded before the deadline.

“Of course, that’s always a possibility. This is the NFL,” Njoku said. “But I’m in Cleveland, baby. I’m not going anywhere. I won’t go.”
Reporters followed this up repeatedly, causing Njoku to raise his voice.
After a reporter asked if he was leaving, he replied, “For God’s sake, no.”

The reason Njoku was a trade target was because his contract was expiring. The 29-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent after this season. But he hopes to do something to stay in the team.
He grinned when asked if extension talks had started; “I can’t say,” he replied to the reporter. Njoku commented on why he is so passionate about the series.
“Don’t you see this here?” Njoku said showing off her special jewelry. “It says [No.] 85 It flies the flag of Nigeria but also the state of Ohio. You didn’t see this, did you? It’s very nice, isn’t it?”

Some players get frustrated when their team doesn’t win, and Njoku, who played just three playoff games in his nine seasons with Cleveland, may be that player.
But when he didn’t get the trade call on Tuesday, his only reaction was happiness.
“I’m so happy, man. I don’t know how else to express it; I’m so happy. I mean it,” he said.
In seven games this season, Njoku has rushed for 260 yards and two touchdowns on 27 of his 41 targets. His was Harold Fannin Jr., who caught 38 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns. It also has a promising counterpart like.

Fannin’s emergence as a reliable pass catcher in the Browns’ offense has further fueled the Njoku rumors.
But the New Jersey native will stay and at least finish the season with the Browns. Time will tell whether both sides will agree on an extension from now on.
