Peter Andre’s wife Emily, 36, has been diagnosed with shingles as she shares her painful symptoms with fans while saying she ‘hopes to feel better soon’
Dr Emily MacDonagh revealed she has shingles, sharing her painful symptoms with fans on social media.
The 36-year-old doctor, who is married to 53-year-old singer Peter Andre, shared a candid video on Friday in which she described her painful symptoms.
As well as health advice in her post, Emily also wrote: ‘A little health update, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with shingles this week. So I thought I’d make a short video to explain what it is in the hope that it will help raise awareness for those who aren’t familiar.’
The woman, wearing a pink woolen jumper, later said in her video: ‘I noticed a pain and strange sensations under my arm here and a few days later a rash appeared on one side of my back.’
She continued: ‘This is definitely not something I expected to deal with but hopefully sharing this will raise some awareness.’
The busy mum signed off on the clip: ‘As for me, I hope to start feeling better soon and come around.

Emily was flooded with well wishes from fans, with one saying: ‘Wishing you a very speedy recovery Emily and thank you for the information regarding shingles’;
‘I hope you get better quickly, Doctor’; ‘Thank you for sharing and get well soon’; ‘Get well soon Emily. ‘I’ve had this 3 times in the last year, it’s so painful’.
Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus, a member of the herpes family that most people contract as children and also causes chickenpox.
When a person is infected, the virus remains dormant in the body, but can be reactivated if the immune system is temporarily weakened.
Emily married Mysterious Girl singer Pete in 2015 and the couple have three children: Millie, 12, Theo, nine, and Arabella, one.
Peter also shares two children, Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, with ex-wife Katie Price.
Although his two oldest children are the center of attention, he and Emily have chosen to keep their younger children out of the public eye as much as possible.
Earlier this month Emily admitted she and Pete were ‘stingy’ with pocket money, giving their children just 50p for chores around the house.
Speaking in an Instagram video, he said: ‘You may have seen a video I made recently where Millie did some chores for me and Pete and earned some extra pocket money.
‘The video received really great comments. I ask people, ‘What do you do with your children?’, ‘How do you spend your pocket money?’, ‘Do you make them do housework?’ I asked. I got a really great response, so I thought I’d make another video about it and see what everyone thought.
‘The kids have their own bank account and a little card they can spend and they get £1 a week from me and Pete which is transferred into their bank account.
‘And then the extra money they want to make comes from housework.
‘So, you know, they can help me unload the dishwasher. I think I’m a bit stingy by the way – a caveat on this – because I’d charge 50p to empty the dishwasher.
‘Making your bed, 50p. Put your clothes away, probably 50p. Slightly larger jobs will take more time, maybe £1.’
Emily added that she actually thought children should help with the housework without getting any pocket money, and said that’s how it was for her to grow up.
He said: ‘I’m torn between teaching them that you shouldn’t always take money to help your parents and at the same time giving them that reward.

‘And they like to spend some money when they go to the shops.
‘I also like to keep them afloat and not give them exorbitant amounts of pocket money, because when they go to the shops they feel really proud of themselves and they kind of know the value of money, maybe to buy something for £2 or £3, they can see what has gone into getting that money.
‘That’s what I think, too, but I think I might be a bit stingy and a bit mean-spirited… so let me know what you think.’
