Prince Andrew has done more to damage royals than anyone since Oliver Cromwell | Royal | News

Sarah Ferguson once described herself and Prince Andrew as the “happiest divorced couple in the world”. And for good reason. It turns out they’re both living in super-luxury luxury, rent-free, and saving around £260,000 a year… which they could probably then spend on whatever rich, over-privileged types spend that much money on. Maybe trans-Atlantic trips to see their best friend Jeffrey Epstein? Who knows?
Anyway, it’s fair to say that the royal family, formerly known as the Prince (almost), has been under a bit of pressure lately. Poor lamb. But it is also fair to say that Andrew did more to discredit, tarnish and possibly overthrow the English monarchy than any man since Cromwell.
Seriously, he’s becoming a real threat to the authority of the British Crown and indeed to Britain’s reputation around the world.
It is mind-boggling to think that this strange man with questionable life choices is still eighth in line to the English throne.
I mean, we’ve had some weird people in that chair over the centuries, but wow.
Honestly, as a news hack, I would talk to the guys in the Republican pressure group when I needed an anti-royal perspective, because they are clearly dedicated to ending the monarchy. But I think they can stretch their legs a bit now because our Duke of Hazard is doing a better job at this than they could have ever imagined.
Remember, Andrew was until recently on the Civil List and his lavish lifestyle was funded by hard-earned hustlers like you and me.
Even though he is now 65, he shamefully still receives an allowance. Admittedly this allowance is £1 million a year and reportedly may have just dried up, but still.
It was also rumored that the house may have dried up as King Charles wanted Andrew and Fergie to finally vacate the 30-bedroom Crown Estate home known as Royal Lodge, where they have lived for two decades.
It looks like the two have agreed in principle but… you knew there was a future, right?… they want TWO houses in return.
Privileged? Moi!?
Andy is said to have claimed Harry and Meghan’s former Windsor pad, Frogmore Cottage, while Fergie, 66, is lining up near Adelaide Cottage following William and Kate’s split next month.
Apparently a friend of the pair said: “No one is sure how things will go at the Palace yet.”
I can tell you how things went on the Clapham/Preston/Newcastle/Glasgow buses – like the archetypal cold vomit cup I’m afraid.
The question is, what do we do with a problem like Prince Andrew in our snowflake age, where beheadings are dismissed as not diverse enough?
Robert Jenrick correctly stated that the British public was “fed up with him” and that he was an embarrassment to both his family and the UK.
But Andrew’s suggestion that he “disappear” often lacks detail.
Royal writer Tina Brown suggested Andrew spend his days on a golf course in Dubai so that “his frowning, chin-jawed face could continue to re-seize itself into the national consciousness.”
My thoughts? I don’t think we can add him to Starmer’s “one-in-one” list, can we? It has to be good for something.
