Scientists create human eggs from skin cells in fertility breakthrough

Women in their 60s and 70s can theoretically give birth to genetically associated children theoretically, pioneering a breakthrough technique that transforms DNA into human eggs that can produce embryo from skin cells.
Researchers at Oregon Health and Science University created early steps from DNA from skin cells and fertilized with sperm.

The experimental procedure starts with the nucleus of a skin cell containing DNA.
Scientists remove this seed and put their own core into a donor egg.
The egg is then triggered to remove half of the chromosomes and reduces them from 46 to 23.
This makes it compatible for fertilization with sperm adding the other 23 chromosome.
If it is successful, the resulting embryo is genetically normal and can be transferred to a uterus to start pregnancy.
