Kishan for Open Debate on Centre’s Help to Telangana

Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday wrote an open letter to the Hyderabad Press Club, seeking to facilitate a discussion with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his predecessor K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the Centre’s assistance to the state for various projects. He said the Center has given assistance of over Rs.9 lakh crore from 2014 to 2023.

In his letter, Kishan Reddy criticized both parties for spreading misinformation that the Center was neglecting Telangana and that he, as a Union minister, was hindering the welfare of the state. He emphasized that these allegations were politically motivated.

Earlier, the party fielded all its senior leaders, including state party president N. Ramchander Rao, Union ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, MPs, MLAs and others, as part of the direct contact campaign.

Kishan Reddy, who led a padayatra in Borabanda, pinned the blame for the stagnation in the constituency squarely on the Congress and BRS’s failure to deliver development and urged voters to reject empty promises. He listed a series of welfare plan promises that he said were not implemented.

Speaking at the party office, Ramchander Rao alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet had abandoned development and resorted to “communal politics” in the election campaign. Rao claimed that the Congress had no concrete achievements and was using religion to deflect scrutiny.

“Congress means Muslim and Muslim means Congress,” he said and called the Prime Minister “Revanthuddin”. Rao also condemned Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s appeal to Christian voters and exposed the hypocrisy of the Congress in labeling the BJP as fanatic while seeking votes on religious lines.

He said the Center had provided assistance of Rs.12 lakh crore since 2014 and pointed out the broken promises of the Congress.

Meanwhile, Medchal-Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender termed the by-poll as a battle between those seeking sympathetic votes and those who are power-hungry and the BJP fighting for justice and truth. At an election rally in Borabanda division, Rajender stated that the BJP has no history of entering into opportunistic alliances.
