Markram Grateful For LSG Retention, Says He is Looking Forward to Another Season

New Delhi: South African opener Aiden Markram said his IPL team Lucknow Super Giants need not complicate things too much and should just focus on winning next year’s crucial moments.
Ahead of the mini-auction next month, LSG has retained right-handed batsman Markram, who has scored 445 runs at an average of 34.23 and a strike rate of 148.83, including five half-centuries, in 13 matches in the 2025 season.
“Yes, it’s great. I really enjoyed my time in the Lucknow series last year. I made some really good friendships and enjoyed being with the team for just a few months. So, I’m very grateful to have stayed with the team and obviously I’m looking forward to another season with them,” he said in a video posted by LSG on ‘X’.
LSG finished the last race in seventh place with six wins and eight losses.
Asked how he would approach things in the next edition, Markram said: “To be successful in the IPL you have to be really good as a team. I don’t think we were that far off last season. A few minutes here and there and a few results would have looked different.”
“Before you know it, you’ve earned the knockout. So you’re definitely not overcomplicating anything. I’m thinking of trying to do the things we did well, try to do them again and try to win a few more crucial moments. Before you know it, I think the competition is looking really promising for us.”
Markram is part of the South African contingent currently in India, which will be followed by the white-ball series.
