PM Modi Embarks On Three-Nation Visit To Jordan, Ethiopia And Oman | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday began a three-country visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman, where he will hold various high-level talks aimed at enhancing strategic partnership. In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi said that India shares both age-old civilizational ties and comprehensive contemporary bilateral relations with these three countries.

The Prime Minister was first appointed by King II. At the invitation of Abdullah ibn Al Hussein, he will visit Jordan on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“During my visit, I will hold detailed discussions with His Royal Highness King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Prime Minister of Jordan, Mr. Jafar Hassan, and also look forward to meetings with His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II,” he said.

In Amman, Prime Minister Modi will meet the Indian community, which he said has made a “significant contribution” to India-Jordan relations.

Prime Minister Modi will travel to Ethiopia from Amman upon the invitation of his counterpart Abiy Ahmed Ali, and this will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the country since 2011.

Prime Minister Modi said, “Addis Ababa is also the headquarters of the African Union. The African Union was accepted as a permanent member of the G20 during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023. I will have detailed meetings with Mr. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali in Addis Ababa and will also have the opportunity to meet the Indian diaspora living there.” he said.

He will also address the Joint Session of Parliament and share his thoughts on India’s journey as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ and the value that the India-Ethiopia partnership can bring to the Global South.

The Prime Minister will visit Oman on the last leg of his journey. This will be his second visit to Oman.

This year, India and Oman are completing 70 years of establishing diplomatic ties.

Prime Minister Modi will hold high-level talks with the Sultan of Oman in Muscat and discuss strengthening the Strategic Partnership as well as the strong trade and economic relationship between the two countries.

“I will also address a meeting of the Indian diaspora in Oman, which has contributed greatly to the development of the country and the enhancement of our partnership,” the Prime Minister said in his farewell statement.
