PM Modi in Malaysia LIVE: India, Malaysia renew pledges to boost trade, collaboration

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday, February 8, 2026, described his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “very vital, very strategic and critical” in advancing bilateral relations.

In his speech, the Malaysian Prime Minister said, “We find this meeting and these exchanges very vital, very strategic and critical to advance and develop relations between India and Malaysia.”

He noted, “We had long-standing relations since 1957. But we have elevated it to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2024,” pointing to “the deep historical ties, strong people-to-people linkages, and ever-expanding economic cooperation.”

Outlining future cooperation, the Malaysian Prime Minister said, “We will continue to deepen cooperation in all areas, including trade and investment, semiconductor, digital economy, local currency trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, food, security, defence, education, health, tourism, culture and people-to-people.”
