TVK Chief Vijay, Party Cadres Booked Under Several Sections of BNS

Chennai: TVK chief Vijay and his party cadres have been booked under various sections of BNS 2023, including alleged violation of MCC regulations during his campaign in the city for the April 23 elections, police sources said on Tuesday. Sources said Peravallur police voluntarily caused suppression of cases under Sections 126 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, NS 126 (2), booked cases under Sections 189 (2), 223 BNS 3 (A) and 3 (5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Alleged violations include causing public inconvenience by party cadres meeting before the authorities allowed the campaign to take place.

As many as 30 sound systems were allegedly used to conduct a promotional tour in Vijay and the rally disrupted the public and obstructed the smooth flow of vehicles.

Actor-Politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is making its debut in the 2026 Assembly polls. Vijay started his election campaign from Perambur, one of the two constituencies from which he contested the elections. The other assembly seat he is contesting is Tiruchirappalli East.
