PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Namma Metro Yellow Line and lay foundation for Phase 3 on August 10

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the yellow line of Namma Metro on August 10 and leave its cornerstones for Metro Phase 3, also known as orange line.

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Bangalore South Deputy Tejasvi Suria announced on Sunday X accounts.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) started civilian work for yellow line three years after the central government received approval from the central government in 2017. Although the original deadline was determined in the beginning of 2023, civilians were only completed in 2024. The delay was primarily due to late train sets.

Initially, the plan was to open seven stations, the trains work every 15 minutes. However, the BMRCL is now planning to run all of 16 stations from the start using three -driverless train running at a 25 -minute intervals.

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), the company supplying a train for the yellow line to the BMRCL, delivered three train sets ready to be deployed. A fourth train set has been sent and is expected to come soon.

The opening announcement arrived two days after the BMRCL received a safety permit for the yellow line from the Metro Railway Security Commissioner (CMRS).

When the fourth train set arrives, it will be subjected to security and operational controls before entering service. The fourth train may take about a month to start operations. At full capacity, the yellow line will operate 15 train and this service level will significantly reduce waiting times, although only until the next year.

Long delay to open the yellow line

In 2019, he made a train supply agreement to a BMRCL Chinese company. However, the Indian government later forbade Chinese companies to participate in the Indian government tenders, and in 2020, the contracts that brought Galwan to the forefront.

Eventually, the Chinese company partnership with TRSL to start offering train sets. The first prototype train, tests, starting in November, was sent at the beginning of 2024. Trsl is expected to complete the delivery of all yellow line train sets next year.
