Last minute talks on between Sena (UBT) and MNS for Mumbai civic poll alliance

Intense last-minute talks between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were continuing on Monday to strengthen the alliance between the two parties for the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls next month.

While leaders of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena insist that talks between the two parties have ended, no official announcement has been made regarding the alliance so far.

On Monday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut met MNS chief Raj Thackeray. MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar also visited Uddhav Thackeray’s residence Matoshri for talks. Both leaders are trusted assistants to their respective party leaders.
Sources said the two sides could not reach an agreement on competition in areas where both parties had support, such as Dadar, Sewree, Vikhroli and Bhandup.

Filing of nomination papers for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections will begin on Tuesday and continue till December 30.

Polls in 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai, will be held on January 15 and votes will be counted the next day.
