Police crackdown on KSU march to SP office

A march by the Kerala Students Association (KSU) to the Regional Police Chief Office on Wednesday ended with the police using force against the protesters. The march was protesting against the police savagery under the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
It was claimed that a police slapped a female worker in her face and dragged her when they resisted for arrest. Police used four rounds of water balls to distribute protesters.
A few workers were subjected to slight injuries in the police Lathicharge. One of them was taken to hospital.
The walk started from Fort Maidan and moved away from the SP office by the police. KPCC member Rijil Chandran opened a march.
The police warned the police that many of them would encounter the ordeal for their excesses when the United Democratic Front (UDF) came to power. The police accused the congress of choosing and attacking the Youth Congress and KSU workers.
“Prime Minister Pinaray Vijayan under the protection you enjoyed will not last forever,” he warned.
Makkutty, “Congress workers respected law and Kakhi, some police officers and their families benefit from freedom of movement on the streets,” he said.
“Providing people can lead to backfire. It is like stepping into a snake and waiting for him not to bite,” he warned. Congress leader also hit the protesters like the police treacherously.
The police used the water ball while the protesters were sitting on the road even after the opening. He was then forcibly removed. A female police officer claimed that Gouja Vijayakumar holds the XSU leader and slapped her in her face. Ms. Vijayakumar claimed that the female officer had previously beat the workers of the KSU. KSU Regional President Nikhil Kannadi chaired the meeting.
