Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., invited to this year’s State of the Union address an illegal immigrant guest named in two police reports that Massachusetts officials refused to release, citing exemptions involving “sexual assault and juveniles,” according to a report.

Boston Herald reported The Milford Police Department (MPD) denied a public records request for two 2021 reports purporting to reference Marcelo Gomes da Silva, whom Moulton invited to President Donald Trump’s Feb. 24 speech.

The newspaper sought reports dated June 30, 2021 and September 15, 2021, the Herald reported. MPD Deputy Chief John Sanchioni denied the request, writing, “The records you request are not public records pursuant to MGL c. 4 p. 7 cl. 26 (A).”

He also wrote that one report “involved sexual assault and juveniles,” while the other “involved children,” citing the Massachusetts public records law.

Sanchioni did not elaborate on the nature of the reports and did not indicate that Gomes da Silva had been accused of any crime. The Herald reported that Gomes da Silva was identified as a “person of interest” in records it sought.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Sanchioni and Moulton’s office for comment.

Gomes da Silva, 19, denied any wrongdoing and said he was unaware of the reports until contacted by the media.

Gomes da Silva told the Herald through his lawyer: “I want to be clear: I have never attacked anyone. I have not been contacted by the police regarding any assault charges.” “I only learned about these alleged reports containing my name through the media. I have never seen these alleged reports. My lawyer later requested these alleged reports and was rejected.”

A spokesman for Moulton also reportedly told the Herald that based on his review, Gomes da Silva was never charged with a crime.

Gomes da Silva came to national attention earlier this year after Moulton invited him as his guest to Trump’s State of the Union address.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained Gomes da Silva in May 2025 while he was driving his father’s car. Agents were reportedly looking for his father at the time.

Gomes da Silva’s student visa had expired, and then-Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News at the time, “the facts are [of his case] “It hasn’t changed.”

“[He] He is currently an illegal alien and is subject to deportation proceedings. “The Trump administration is committed to restoring the rule of law and common sense in our immigration system and will continue to fight to arrest, detain, and deport aliens who have no right to be in this country,” McLaughlin said.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also criticized Gomes da Silva’s State of the Union invitation.

“[Gomes da Silva] An illegal alien who has no right to be in our country. We are committed to enforcing the law and fighting to arrest, detain, and deport aliens like him,” DHS shared on X.

“Marcelo has been in the United States since he was 6 years old. He has zero criminal record. By targeting him, you are not making anyone safer. You are just proving how far you will go to terrorize young people trying to build a future in this country,” Moulton’s office said at the time.

‘TEAM’ MEMBER CLAIMS UNION STATE GUEST HAS BEEN ARRESTED

When Moulton announced that he had invited Gomes da Silva as his guest, he said he did so because his story “captures what is currently broken in our immigration system.”

Moulton continued: “The support Marcelo received after his arrest was not an accident. It happened because people knew the kind of person Marcelo was.” “He is exactly the kind of young man that America should invest in, not lock in on. If we want to call ourselves the land of opportunity, we must start by uplifting young people like Marcelo.”

Gomes da Silva also responded at the time, saying the invitation to attend the State of the Union event was “extremely meaningful.”

“I am proud to represent the strength, faith and hard work of my community,” he said. “Thank you Seth for the invitation.”

Boston Herald Gomes said he objected to the police department’s denial of the records request, arguing that da Silva’s past had become part of a broader public debate about immigration enforcement following his appearance in the State of the Union.
