A police spokesman said: “Having reviewed our systems using the limited information available to us, we have found no evidence that these allegations were reported to Surrey Police.

“Therefore, we are in contact with the relevant authorities to provide access to the corrected information.

“We take all reports of child abuse seriously and encourage anyone with information about these allegations to report it to us.”

The Surrey force did not confirm which agencies it sought information from. Times London said it would contact the FBI.

The document containing the allegations was one of 11,000 documents released by the US justice department on Monday.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that more than 1 million more documents “potentially relevant” to the case had been uncovered and are expected to be released at a later date.

The complainant’s name, date of birth, telephone number and address are redacted from the FBI document.

Andrew was still serving in the Royal Navy at the time of the alleged incidents. He was also nearing the end of his marriage to Sarah Ferguson, and their divorce became final in 1996.

The Epstein files contain many unproven allegations of wrongdoing, including by Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles this year because of his friendship with Epstein.

Files released earlier this week revealed Andrew asked Maxwell to find him “inappropriate friends”.

In another conversation, Maxwell asked an unknown buyer if Andrew could be set up with “fun girls” during a royal trip to Peru.

He has always denied any wrongdoing regarding Epstein or Maxwell.
