New era of trans-Tasman co-operation in turbulent world

Australia and New Zealand are entering a new period of cooperation, as leaders of both countries adopt common values in a more turbulent world.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is in Queenstown for a two -day meeting with Christopher Luxon, New Zealand counterpart.
In a demonstration of the bond between the two nations, Luxon embraced the Australian Prime Minister warmly when they met for leadership talks on Saturday.
The first day focused on the union between the two countries, and how they can cooperate on various issues, including protecting security and welfare in a more uncertain geo-strategic environment.
This included the commitment to integrate the two economies of nation in the “most unpredictable and dangerous” strategic environment.
Nicholas Khoo, a political researcher at the University of Otoo, said that foreign policy difficulties about China, USA and China’s rape in the southern Pacific region will have problems during the negotiations.
Both leaders acknowledged that the world’s superpowers, China and the United States should be managed, and continuous dialogue is important to reduce the risks of misunderstanding, miscalculation, promotion and conflict in the Pacific region.
China was the main topic on everyone’s lips, and the couple argues their serious concerns about their “dangerous and provocative” behaviors in the South China Sea.
Mr. Luxon said that Asian superpower is an important player in the world and a permanent feature of global relations.
“We have an approach to cooperate where we can do… We do not agree with where we need to do. We have different systems and different values”.
Both leaders praised the efforts to strengthen the military cooperation that Prof Khoo said it was appropriate, given the increasing uncertainty in international politics.
