Police in Paris foil attempted bomb attack outside Bank of America building | Paris

French police stopped a bomb attack outside a U.S. bank in Paris on Saturday by arresting a man who was about to detonate a homemade explosive, officials and sources close to the case said.
The incident took place around 3:30 in the morning, in front of the Bank of America building in the city’s 8th arrondissement, a few streets away from the Champs-Élysées.
One of the sources said police caught the man immediately after planting five liters of liquid believed to be fuel and a device with an ignition system.
According to initial assessment, the ignition component contained 650 grams (23 ounces) of explosive powder. The device was taken to the Paris police forensic laboratory for full analysis.
France’s anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said it immediately took over the investigation and confirmed that the captured suspect was in police custody.
It was stated that the investigation was investigating “attempted harm by fire or other dangerous means in connection with a terrorist enterprise” and “terrorist criminal conspiracy”.
According to the statement made by the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office, the Paris judicial police and France’s domestic intelligence service, the General Directorate of Internal Security, are also involved in the investigation.
