PayPal stock jumps after reports Stripe, Advent are weighing $53 billion takeover

PayPal There was a surge in premarket trading on Wednesday after Stripe and Advent International made a joint bid to acquire the payments firm in a $53 billion deal.

Payments company Stripe and private equity firm Advent plan to acquire PayPal for $60.50 per share. Reuters reported Wednesday, citing two people familiar with the matter. The deal would value the payments company at more than $53 billion.
