Police investigating collapse of tree in park that killed 7-year-old girl and left second child fighting for life

The police launched an investigation into a tree that killed a seven -year -old girl in an Essex park and left a six -year -old girl who fought for her life during the weekend.

The tree, held by metal poles, was wounded in Southend-on-Sea, Chalkwell Park, shorter than 15:00 on Saturday.

One witness saw dozens of people and said that about 40-50 people were trying to lift the tree.

“An investigation into the conditions of the partial collapse of a tree in Southend continues,” Sunday evening said on Sunday evening.

Ishan Madan, a 39-year-old accountant from Westcliff-on-Sea, was joining a nearby cricket match when he heard a “terrible, screaming scream”.

“Everyone ran towards the club building with the tree.

“The tree was caught and I think there were four children, the fifth was a little further away, I think a branch was shot.

“Two were under a smaller branch, easily rescued, and unfortunately the other two girls were stuck under this large tree.

“That’s why we bought the audience to help, then there should be 40 to 50 people trying to lift the falling tree, and our horrors, these two little girls, poor girls, were stuck under it. Their mothers were in the corner.”

The park remains open to the public, but there is a cord when the investigation continues.

The members of the people continue to leave flowers in a region.

Council leader CLLR Daniel Cowan said, “This was a destructive event, and our heartfelt thoughts remain with the family, the wounded and everyone who is affected. We understand the power of feeling this tragedy locally,” he said.

“The police continue their investigations about the conditions around the collapse of the tree and we want comprehensive answers, so that the council will currently interpret or open its findings more.

“Our focus should be to support the society and to allow the investigation to provide the answers we need.”

Police said the six -year -old girl injured in the incident was in a critical situation.

Essex Police President Lucy Morris said, “Many of them will think about it today, and the right place is surrounded by his family and is taking care throughout the night,” Essex said.

“Unfortunately, his condition is still very serious right now.”

Chalkwell Park is an entertainment area with 27 hectares and a series of flower garden, two children’s playgrounds, a skating park and football, cricket, basketball and tennis areas.
