Police investigating rape of teenage girl urge Good Samaritans to come forward after two boys ‘intervened and had altercation’ with the attackers

Police have called on three Good Samaritans to come forward after two teenagers ‘intervened and argued’ with the attackers after a teenage girl was raped.

The victim was walking along Oxford Road in Reading, Berkshire, just after 10pm on Saturday when he was approached by two men who tried to speak to him.

The young girl and two men walked towards Prince of Wales Boulevard, where she was raped.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for three Good Samaritans who helped the girl following the incident.

These include two boys, possibly teenagers, who intervened and argued with the attackers, as well as a black woman who helped the victim.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Sukhveer Sokhi said: ‘I appreciate that this crime will cause concern in the local community.

‘I can reassure local residents that Thames Valley Police are carrying out a thorough investigation.

‘I am appealing to the three Good Samaritans who helped the victim after the crime to please come forward.

‘Firstly, there were two men, probably teenage boys, who intervened on Prince of Wales Boulevard at around 22.25 and argued with the attackers.

‘Shortly after this altercation took place the victim walked to Elm Park Road where a black woman assisted the victim.

‘We’re calling on these three Good Samaritans to come forward because what you see and hear will help our investigation.’
