Police no longer investigating Andrew bodyguard claim

London police will not take further action over allegations that Britain’s former prince Andrew asked his protection officer to check on Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager.

In October, Britain’s King Charles stripped his younger brother Andrew of his title of prince and forced him to move out of his Windsor home in a bid to alienate the royal family from him over his links to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Earlier that month, London’s police force said it was “actively investigating” allegations in the Mail on Sunday that Andrew had asked one of his personal protection officers in 2011 to gather information about Giuffre, who died by suicide in April.

“Following recent reports suggesting that Mr Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor asked a Met ‍Police close protection officer to carry out checks on Ms Giuffre in 2011, the Metropolitan Police Service carried out further assessment,” it said in a statement on Saturday. he said.

That evaluation did not reveal any additional evidence of criminal conduct or misconduct, he said.

“To date, we have not received any additional evidence to support reopening the investigation. Absent further information, we will not take further action.”
