The two police officers were dismissed for heavy abuse, as they were dealing with a suspicious drunk driver who was arrested and later died.

On July 13, 2023, Stephen Reardon, who was arrested in Cornwall on July 13, 2023, was arrested because he was not appropriate with drinks or drugs and could not provide a breath sample.

Officers emerged before a abuse panel accused of violating the standards appropriate to the execution of a police officer on the exercise of their duties and responsibilities related to Mr. Reardon.

IOPC said he was handcuffed and put behind a police van for a journey to the Newquay Police Station. He was uncomfortable during the journey.

Officers, after reaching the custody unit gave first aid in the garden of the station.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by ambulance.

The incident was immediately directed by the force and an independent IPC investigation was conducted with the abuse of this week.
