Police register 20 cases, seize ₹39 lakh in marathon raids targeting loan sharks in Ernakulam

The Ernakulam Range police formed at least 20 cases during a driving targeting illegal usurers on Tuesday. Police said in a statement that the police seized about 39 lakh allegedly purchased by criminals in different cases by collecting exorbitant interest rates from debtors.
26 vehicles, including seven cars and 13 motorcycles, were seized in the raids that started around 7 am and continued until late at night. Police include 62 stamp paper, eight promising grades, 86 vehicle registration certificates and 17 property certificates.
The raids were held by approximately 2,000 police staff at 298 points. Seven cases were recorded in Kottayam region and five were filed in Idukki. Police said four cases, each within the boundaries of ERNAKULAM Rural Police and Alappuzha.
Four cases in the Ernakulam countryside were recorded in Aluva, Nedumbassery, Paravur and Kuruppampady.
