Deputy head of Russian Navy killed by Ukraine in Kursk, official says

Moscow (Reuters) -Russian Navy Vice President Mikhail Gudkov, who filed a brigade war against Akraine, was killed in the Kursk region of Russia.

The unofficial Russian and Ukraine military telegraph channels reported that Gudkov had previously been killed with the other 10 other soldiers in the Ukrainian attack on a command in Kurenevo, which limited Ukraine.

He was one of the highest -level Russian military officers who have been killed by Ukraine since Moscow launched a full -scale war against Ukraine in 2022.

Kozhemyako said that he talked to Gudkov a lot over the years, said in a statement, Gudkov said with others “fulfilled his duty as a civil servant” and said he wished condolences to the relatives of dead men.

“When he was the assistant navy chief, he did not stop visiting the positions of our sailors.” He said.

Gudkov received awards for courage in military action against Ukraine and was accused by Kiev for war crimes. According to the Kremlin’s website, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed the navy as Deputy Commander -in -Chief in March.

There was no immediate comment from the Russian Defense Ministry or Ukraine.

Gudkov led the naval brigade of the Pacific Fleet of Russia, which fought in Kursk. A part of Kursk was captured by the Ukrainian forces in August 2024 in a surprise attack in August 2024 before Russia had brought them out of this year.
