Prince Harry scores ‘big win’ after making ‘foolish’ mistake | Royal | News

Prince Harry’s decision to demand a review of his security in the UK has been described as a “huge win” after he made a “stupid” mistake. The 41-year-old man was denied the opportunity to bring Meghan Markle and her children to the UK because it was deemed “impossible” due to safety concerns.

Although Harry has visited many times, with his last visit in September, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have not set foot in the UK since 2022. Although there is only one review at this stage, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond revealed the decision is a huge win for Harry.

Speaking about the review, Ms Bond said: “I think this is a huge win for Harry and it deserves to be reviewed.”

He told the Mirror: “There’s no changing the fact that he’s the King’s son. He’s also a former military officer who took part in armed conflict in Afghanistan during two tours of duty.”

“He foolishly confessed, many argue, to killing 25 Taliban… This confession must have already put a bigger target on his back. So I think he had legitimate concerns about his safety and the risk to his family if he brought them to the UK.”

Speaking about Harry, he added: “If our eight surviving former Prime Ministers are entitled to a high level of security [in some cases round the clock] So I think Prince Harry has the right to ask why he doesn’t have the same rights when he’s in this country.

“He offered to pay but that’s hardly a start because the Met police aren’t for hire.”

Harry’s failure to bring his family to England has reportedly affected his desire to show six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet their inheritance, while also escalating his ongoing feud with the Royal Family and his relationship with King Charles.

Ms Bond added: “Safety concerns are at the heart of Harry’s estrangement from his family here.

“He said the dispute was always the crux of any reconciliation with his father. He viewed the court’s decision against him as ‘an old-fashioned erection of order’.”
