Indian-Origin Woman Raped In UK In Suspected ‘Racially Aggravated Attack’: Reports | World News

West Midlands Police released a statement providing information about the investigation into the rape of a woman in her 20s in Walsall, saying the case was being treated as a “racially aggravated assault”. Meanwhile, some media reports claimed that the woman was of Indian origin.

“We are conducting an investigation after a woman in her 20s was raped in Walsall and we are treating this as a racist attack,” the police statement said.

The statement said: “We were called to concerns about the welfare of a woman in distress on the street just after 7.15pm last night. Officers discovered the woman had been raped and assaulted by a man she did not know at a nearby property. Following the attack she is currently being supported by our officers in the Park Hall area of ​​Walsall.”

According to police, the attacker was a white male in his 30s, with short hair and wearing dark clothing.

The statement continued: “We are releasing CCTV footage of the suspect this evening. If you know who he is, call us immediately on 999 quoting log 4027.”

Det Supt Ronan Tyrer, who oversaw the investigation, said: “This was an absolutely horrific attack on a young woman and we are doing absolutely everything we can to arrest the person responsible.”

“We have teams of officers collecting evidence and profiling the attacker so that he can be taken into custody as quickly as possible. Although we are currently pursuing multiple lines of inquiry, it is vital that we hear from anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area at the time,” police added.

Additionally, Chief Supt Phil Dolby, of Walsall Police, said: “Our focus now is to support investigators in identifying and arresting the attacker. “Walsall is a diverse area and we know the fear and anxiety this horrific attack will cause in our communities.”


Preet Kaur Gill, Labor MP from Birmingham Edgbaston, expressed her deep shock in a post on X and said: “We are saddened to hear of another racially aggravated rape, this time in Walsall.”
