Politics of polarisation in Assam

FFollowing the independence of India, Assam had continuously religious, linguistic, ethnic and sub -regional differences that caused violence from time to time. Among the discussions that occupy the social area Ujoni (Upper Assam) Temperament and Namoni (ASSAM) editing and Khilonjia (Native) and bohiragata (Foreigners). However, none of them was polarized between the indigenous and Miya, a humiliating term for Muslims with roots in Bangladesh.
This division is based on the fear that citizens of Bangladesh will seize Assam. This fear made money that led to the signing of the 1985 Assam Agreement during the Assam agitation (1979-85). The agreement envisaged the deportation of deletion, deletion and deportation of foreigners entering ASSAM on March 25, 1971; Constitutional, legislative and administrative measures for the people of Assam; And always restrict the purchase of immovable property by foreigners who mean people from Bangladesh. Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtria Swayamsevak Sangh supported the Sangh movement.
The Bangladesh issue has become an election staple in the controversial 1983 elections, despite the call of a boycott by the pro -groups, who spoke Bengalially in at least 35 of Assam’s 126 parliamentary seats. The problem dominated the 1985 elections won by Asom Ghana Parishad (AGP), which often forming the leaders of agitation. In addition, the perceived demographic threat gave birth to the façade of the unified minorities that prevented the perceived demographic threat.
Bangladeshi or ‘illegal immigrants’ problem was in the subtext of the promise of protection’Jaat (race), Maati (black), Bheti (Hearth) ‘BJP helped to form his first government in Assam in 2016. The small allies of the party were AGP and Bodoland People’s Front, who ruled a tribal council with a history of conflict between the dominant tribal and immigrant Muslims. Almost a year after the BJP -led government’s Supreme Court of Gauhati ordered the breeding of raped lands to be corrected, in September 2016, Kaziranga National Park meant the first release driving in the village of three ears. Mostly two people were killed during the evacuation of immigrant Muslims.
A similar exercise to evacuate families from forest land, grazing lands and government income lands was held in at least 12 places across the province before protecting power in BJP 2021 and Himanta Biswa wrapping became prime minister. In spite of strong feelings against the 2019 Citizenship (Amendment) Law, he came to power on the basis of Vikas (development) to turn the party in favor of the tide.
Sarma, a former congress leader, did not need BJP’s votes to win elections and the Bengalli Muslims Khilonjia Assem Muslims. The evacuation driving became more aggressive under him. In September 2021, a evacuation driving in Gorukhuti in Darrang demanded two lives. It was paused after several operations. Driving was restarted in various parts of the West and Northeast Assam in June this year.
Referring to the official documents, Sarma said that so far 1.29 Lakh Bighas has been cleaned from the slums and about 29 Lakh Bigas is still under rape in the province. He did more than he appeared, calling the government’s rape of land as çiat jihad to end the state .. He attributed this to an upcoming demographic change that he said he would make people with Assams until 2041.
The prime minister’s obscene, evacuation is realized to clean the land for corporate houses, including the Adani Group Minister of the Armal Energy Project in West Assem. This says it is caused by people to move at least 49,000 Bighadan where indigenous communities live.
Although the evacuation of other communities was low, those who oppose Muslims had more attraction, because as Mla Akhil Gogoi said, they pave the way for the polarization policy of minorities, thus reversing BJP in Ujoni, where the party faces difficulties. State elections are less than a year.
