Ponnam’s Brother Elected To Bar Council

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court lawyer Ponnam Ashok Goud was elected as a member of the Telangana Bar Council after the election results were declared.
In the last week of January, elections were held to elect 23 members of the council, of which 5 seats were reserved for women candidates. Lawyers from across the state participated in the voting process. Vote counting began on February 10 and continued for several rounds due to the large number of votes cast under the preferential voting system adopted in the elections.
After nearly a month of counting, election officials on Wednesday declared Ashok Goud as one of the successful candidates.
According to officials, he became the first candidate to exceed the determined threshold by achieving the required 1,085 vote cutoff within the scope of the preferential voting system used in parliamentary elections.
Ashok Goud is the elder brother of minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
