The White House is taking heat from conservatives after Vanity Fair published a bombshell profile of White House chief of staff Susie Wiles that dominated the news cycle.

Vanity Fair writer Chris Whipple penned a two-part story on Tuesday based on 11 interviews conducted last year with Wiles, a top aide to President Donald Trump who has made extraordinary comments about his boss and members of the administration.

Wiles lashed out at the profile, calling it “an insincerely framed hit piece”.

“Important context was ignored and much of what I and others said about the team and the President was left out of the story,” Wiles wrote to X. “After reading it, I assume this was done to paint a very chaotic and negative narrative about the President and our team.”

But many of Trump’s supporters in the conservative media argue that the White House is guilty of granting such access to a liberal publication like Vanity Fair.

“I’m really sick to death of people on the right who want to get the approval of the left-wing media, even toying with them for a minute. I can’t stand it. It’s the saddest fetish,” reacted Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway.

California Post opinion editor Joel Pollack similarly wrote, “I don’t know why Republicans continue to grant privileged access to mainstream media or center-left publications determined to destroy them.” “Journalists are not your friends, especially those from Democratic agenda-driven outlets like @nytimes and @VanityFair.”

Conservative radio host Dana Loesch echoed this sentiment, saying of

KAROLINE LEAVITT DEFENDS SUSIE WILES, CLAIMS VANITY FAIR INTERVIEWER WAS DISSINGLE, OMITTED

“One day we will have a Republican Party that understands that it is never in their interest to talk to outlets like Vanity Fair. Today is not that day,” said RealClearInvestigations senior writer Mark Hemingway.

New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz drew attention to the photo shoot of Trump’s inner circle donated by the White House to Vanity Fair. Markowicz shared a published photo of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Markowicz reacted to the extreme close-up of Leavitt’s face by saying, “Don’t do interviews with outlets like Vanity Fair. They use photos like this. They are not your friends.”

Outkick founder Clay Travis shared his advice to Republicans: Only do live interviews.

“The old media will always take you out of context and attack you if you give them the chance. Just go live or go live and let the public see everything you say,” Travis wrote.

He continued, “Your time and your words are a valuable commodity. Why would you give them to someone for free and let them choose how they present you using a very small percentage of what you say? Why would you give that power to someone?”

Leavitt lashed out at the Vanity Fair story during an appearance on “America Reports.”

“This was unfortunately another attempt at fake news by a reporter who was disingenuous and took the chief’s words out of context,” Leavitt said. “But most importantly, the tendency towards neglect was always present throughout this story.”

“The reporter omitted all the positive things Susie and our team said about the president and the inner workings of the White House. And as Susie said today, what happened is extremely unfortunate,” he added.

Fox News Digital asked the White House if it regretted giving the interview to Vanity Fair and if it had a response to conservative criticism. The White House cited Wiles and Leavitt’s comments and did not comment further.

Wiles made several eyebrow-raising comments, such as saying that Trump has an “alcoholic personality,” that Vice President J.D. Vance has been a “conspiracy theorist for a decade,” and that Attorney General Pam Bondi “totally sniffed” her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

A number of Trump administration officials, including those Wiles commented to Vanity Fair, rushed to social media and rallied behind him.

“If any of us learned one lesson from that Vanity Fair article, I hope it’s that we should give fewer interviews to mainstream media outlets,” Vance joked Tuesday.
