‘I Just Got Hit!’ CNN Reporter Chokes Live On Camera As Trump ICE Agents Fire Irritants At Protesters

BURNETT: I want to go directly to Veronica Miracle because it’s in Los Angeles, where the crowd that I know is around you is at Veronica’s ICE property. What do you see?

VERONICA MIRACLE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Yeah, it’s really busy here. And Erin, I just got pepper sprayed with all of us. And I’m still trying to get over it. There is so much pepper spray in the air that there are many people coughing and gagging around us, including us.

So there was a really interesting scene here. I’ve never seen this before in all my years of covering protests in this area, here in downtown Los Angeles, where they actually were, these protesters were able to get onto the property. A conflict line formed between police officers affiliated with the Ministry of Internal Security. They were kind of in a line and the protesters overtook them and managed to push them further back to the loading dock, where they actually cornered them all and pushed them in.

As you know, there was a small conflict. There was some tear gas, people were throwing bottles, but ultimately these protesters took over this property that I’ve never seen before. Police will usually be here and can keep protesters off the property.

This is a crowd at the end of a very long protest. This event started at 13:00 at the local town hall. Okay, I just got shot! Stop, stop. I just realized – sorry.

BURNETT: OK, hang in there, Veronica.

MIRACLE: I’m sorry. I can’t breathe. I am sad.

BURNETT: Take your time. Take your time. Right. Let’s make sure Veronica is okay.

MIRACLE: Yes. I’m sorry about that. Yes.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE; Let’s go back.

MIRACLE: Okay. Clearly they are shooting. They’re shooting things. Pepper balls and stuff. So, it looks like you can see a police officer there. He’s alone and they’re throwing things at him.

I mean, it’s pretty incredible that these protesters got through this. And it really exists. There is no police.

I don’t see anyone here who can handle this crowd. Like I said, this is at the end of a very long day. It looks like they’re cheering because they were able to push that officer back in. Ok my love.
