Powerball jackpot surges to $50m after no Division One winner found during Thursday night draw

Australia’s Powerball jackpot has soared to $50 million after no player hit the seven winning numbers in the latest draw.
The winning numbers (drawn in numerical order) were 1, 9, 34, 20, 22, 23 and 5, while the Powerball number was 17.
Even though no one held the winning number seven and the Powerball had to be in the premier league, many Australians still walked away with small prizes.
The lack of a Division One winner means winnings will rise to $50 million with a huge jackpot; This bonus will be drawn next week on Thursday, March 12th.
This marks the second-largest jackpot offered by any Australian Lottery game so far in 2026, following the $80 million draw in February.
Lott spokesman Matt Hart said expectations are rising across the country.
“One in six Australian adults is expected to enter the $50 million Powerball draw,” Mr Hart said.
Despite the prize rollover, there were plenty of big wins in the second episode, with four lucky Aussies winning more than $159,000.

The total prize pool for the second episode was more than $630,000.
While each number has an equal chance of being drawn, Mr. Hart explained that some have appeared more frequently than others in the history of the game.
“The winning numbers most frequently drawn from the main barrel are 9, 7 and 11, while the least frequently drawn are 31, 13 and 26,” Mr. Hart said.
“The most frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 2 and 4, and the least frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 12 and 8.”
