Pregnant woman seeks police action to trace ‘missing’ husband

A pregnant woman staged a protest at Ajith Singh Nagar police station on Tuesday, demanding authorities take action to trace her missing husband after they failed to respond to her earlier complaint.

Complainant P. Likitha said that her husband P. Gnana Pavan Kumar has been missing for the last five months. She filed a complaint with the police, claiming that her father-in-law was behind her husband’s disappearance.

North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (ACP) K. Sravanthi Roy said Ms. Likitha had not lodged any ‘missing’ complaint with the Ajith Singh Nagar police. “If Ms. Likitha had lodged a complaint regarding Mr. Pavan Kumar’s disappearance, we would have immediately filed a case and taken action as per law,” Ms. Roy said.

“Though I lodged a complaint with Ajith Singh Nagar police, no case was registered and no progress has been made so far,” said Ms. Likitha, who is seven months pregnant. “After protesting for a while in front of the police station, the police spoke to me and assured me that they would solve the case,” Likitha said.
