Major incident as fireworks suspected inside Southall warehouse fire

More than 50 calls came to the fire department after the explosions were heard.

A major incident has been declared after a burning warehouse in West London is believed to contain fireworks and gas cylinders.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to the two-storey building at Middlesex Business Park on Bridge Road in Southall at around 08:55 GMT, with around three-quarters of the structure on fire.

The LFB said 25 fire engines and around 150 crews were sent to the scene, including Southall, Heston and Ealing.

Deputy Commissioner Pat Goulbourne said all firefighters had retreated to a safe distance and were now “fighting the fire from a greater distance to ensure the safety of the crew”.
