Prince George joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales at this year’s Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

On the eve of Remembrance Sunday, audiences rose to their feet and fanfares played as the royal family entered the concert hall to remember those who died in service.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Lady Victoria Starmer also attended the annual event, which this year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

It also came 25 years after the end of a decades-long ban on homosexuals serving in the armed forces, which was reflected in the discrimination faced by LGBT personnel.

Princess Catherine sat next to her eldest son George, 12, and wore a handmade poppy made of silk, glass and other natural materials.

The Royal Family stood and applauded as Chelsea Pensioners, retired British Army veterans, entered the auditorium and walked across the stage, while an orchestra played Boys Of The Old Brigade.

The Prince of Wales was not there when he returned from Brazil. He spoke to world leaders Gathering for the COP30 UN climate change summit and visited a distant island.

The event, which was broadcast on BBC One at 21.00, was hosted by actress Hannah Waddingham and featured musicians including Sir Rod Stewart.

A number of armed forces groups, including RAF Squadrons, will also take to the stage to accompany the artists and perform military music.

Veterans in attendance included some who had been prisoners of war and some who helped plan D-Day, when Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy during World War II, marking the beginning of the campaign to liberate northwestern Europe.

Events will be held across the country tomorrow for Remembrance Sunday, which is celebrated on the Sunday closest to Armistice Day, November 11.

To commemorate the end of the First World War in 1918, a two-minute silence will be held on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11:00.
