Prince Harry and Meghan slam ‘deranged conspiracy’ book on royals

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have strongly denied allegations contained in a new book about the British royal family, describing the author’s work as “deranged conspiracy and melodrama”.

In a firm statement released on Saturday, the couple claimed that author Tom Bower had “already crossed the line from criticism to obsession.” The Sussexes’ strong reaction came after extracts from Bower’s book were published in the Times of London on Friday.

These quotes claimed that Queen Camilla once told a friend that Meghan was “brainwashing” her husband. The book also claimed that Prince William and his wife Catherine “clearly viewed Meghan as a threat rather than an ally” amid rising tensions ahead of the Sussex couple’s decision to move to the US and step back from royal duties.

“This is language that speaks for itself, from someone making it clear that ‘the monarchy is actually committed to erasing the Sussexes from our state of life,'” Harry and Meghan’s statement said.

“He made a career out of building increasingly elaborate theories about people he didn’t know and had never met,” he continued. “Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those looking for deranged plotting and melodrama know exactly where to find it.”

Excerpts from Bower’s book included critical passages about the couple’s finances, their charitable work and Harry’s Invictus Games, the annual sports competition he founded for wounded, wounded and sick military veterans.

Bower previously released “Revenge: The War Between Meghan, Harry and the Windsors” in 2022.
