Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first appearance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, celebrating the premiere of their documentary “Cookie Queens.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who executive produced the film through their company Archewell Productions, stepped out for a special screening of the film on Saturday night before attending its premiere on Sunday morning.

Directed by Alyssa Nahmias, “Cookie Queens” follows four Girl Scouts during the organization’s iconic cookie season as they use the race to become a best seller to explore childhood passion, entrepreneurship and the pressures of growing up.

The couple wore casual, casual outfits to both events, in keeping with Sundance’s laid-back, snowy festival atmosphere.

For the screening, Markle, 44, wore an all-black ensemble that included a sweater, baggy jeans and pointy boots. Harry, 41, wore green jeans, a long-sleeved black shirt with a matching puffer jacket and brown suede boots.

On the red carpet, the couple posed for photos with Nahmias, daughter of late actor and Sundance co-founder Robert Redford, and Sundance Film Festival director Eugene Hernandez.

Markle was later photographed wearing a long brown coat over her outfit as she greeted some of the Girl Scouts featured in the documentary. A special screening and celebration of “Cookie Queens” was held at the Rose Wagner Center for the Performing Arts in Salt Lake City.

The next morning, Markle and Harry made their second festival appearance as they walked the red carpet for the premiere of the documentary held at the Eccles Center Theater in Park City.

The former “Suits” actress wore a navy blue trench coat over a white sweater, black wide-leg jeans and black boots. Harry, meanwhile, opted to wear a black puffer jacket over a white button-up shirt and navy blue jeans.

Harry and Markle were all smiles as they posed for photos with Nahmias, as well as Archewell’s Head of Nonfiction Film and TV, Chanel Pysnik, and Sundance’s director of programming, Kim Yutani. The Sussexes were joined by cast and crew members for a group photo.

Markle later surprised the audience when she took the stage to speak before the screening. After being introduced by Yutani as a “very special guest,” Markle walked out and walked behind the podium, according to a video shared by a fan on Instagram.

“Good morning everyone,” Markle said with a smile. “Guys, thank you so much for coming here so early in the morning. I know some of you probably stayed up late last night, so thanks extra for your efforts. Nothing little cookies and coffee can’t help with.”

“Look, my husband and I and our Archewell Productions are so proud and privileged to be able to support and elevate ‘Cookie Queens,'” she continued. “Yes, it’s probably the sweetest of the festival, but I’m also going to go out on a limb and say it’s one of the most powerful and meaningful depictions of something that is an American tradition and rooted in nostalgia, but now it’s being put through that lens from Alysa’s incredibly creative vision to show something modernized about the experience of girlhood and all the layers and complexity that comes with it.”

“So yes, it’s cute and yes, these young ladies are wonderful and adorable, but they’re also layered beautiful girls who are about to become very strong leaders and young women,” Markle added. “Well, thank you for supporting this.”

Markle thanked her team at Archewell and the producers of the documentary. “This movie is a huge labor of love that they’ve been working on for several years and hundreds of hours of their trusty fly-on-the-wall material that they were able to capture with these families who let them in and allowed them to show and share their lives and their love,” he said.

“I think the editorial you’ll see in this is pretty phenomenal as well,” Markle added. “All of this is a testament to the talent and expertise of director Alysa Nahmias, who is here today.”

Markle then introduced Nahmias and the two shared a warm embrace on stage. Screened in Sundance’s Family Matinee category, “Cookie Queens” received one of the festival’s longest standing ovations, according to Deadline.

In an interview with People Magazine on the red carpet before the premiere, Markle weighed in on her favorite Girl Scout cookie.

“I’m a Thin Mints,” said Markle, a former Girl Scout.

“This is so classic,” he continued. “And as a Girl Scout, it was always the fastest seller, so I guess that’s why you remember it.”

“What’s so special about the movie is that there’s so much that you can relate to and relate to, whether you’re a Girl Scout or not, and the beauty of how Alysa has brought this movie together to talk about family, community, parenting, and also the complexities of girlhood,” Markle told the outlet.
