Jeremy Corbyn and Zara Sultana’s Your Party reveals shortlist for official name | Jeremy Corbyn

The left-wing party founded by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana has announced a short list of names for its members to choose from: Your Party, Our Party, Popular Alliance and For the Many.

Ahead of its first conference in Liverpool this weekend, the party is asking its 50,000 members to choose what its name should be, with the result to be announced by Corbyn on Sunday.

It was provisionally named Your Party when it was founded in the summer, but the organization has been beset by months of infighting and infighting since then.

There were disagreements between Corbyn and Sultana over how the scheme was introduced and how the money collected from members should be kept.

It has also attracted other independent MPs such as Ayoub Khan and Shockat Adam, but two more MPs, Iqbal Mohamed and Adnan Hussain, have already resigned due to persistent infighting and power struggle in the organisation.

More than 2,500 members are expected to attend the Liverpool event after being selected through a draw system and will agree on the party’s structures, program and organizational strategy.

One of the key questions in the debate is whether the party should adopt a single leader or a “collective, ordinary-member leadership model”. They will also decide whether the party will support socialist independents in the 2026 UK local elections.

Each of the party’s MPs is expected to make a speech, alongside a number of grassroots organizers and left-wing politicians from across Europe.

Ahead of the conference, Corbyn said: “Over the last few months I have traveled across the country, talking to people and learning about their vision for a member-led party.

“I am excited to launch this party and begin the work of building a majority for real political change. This is our chance to create a mass, democratic, socialist party that can be the voice of economic justice and peace.”

You said that your party’s approach to the conference showed that they were ready to do politics differently.

Sultana said: “I look forward to the founding conference of your Party, where we will work collectively towards our common socialist vision. We are building a new kind of party that is deeply rooted and democratically accountable to the mass movement.”

The conference coincided with the revocation of the membership of some members of your Party due to their membership in other parties, such as the Socialist Workers.

Despite this ban, Sultana is supported by the Socialist Unity Platform, a lobbying organization made up of groups including the Communist Party of Great Britain.
