The Office of the War Secretary on Monday upgraded its preliminary investigation of Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., to a full command investigation, according to a report.
The investigation into “serious allegations of misconduct” against Kelly has intensified with a new investigation with the War Department’s Office of General Counsel, according to a Pentagon official first reported by Punchbowl News.
The department previously announced it was launching a formal investigation into allegations of misconduct against Kelly over a video urging service members to “reject illegal orders.”

“The fact that the president and the secretary of defense would abuse their power to go after me, or anyone else for that matter, should send shivers down the spine of every patriotic American,” Kelly said in a statement.
“It wasn’t enough for Donald Trump to say I should be hanged,” he continued. “It wasn’t enough for Pete Hegseth to threaten me with a court-martial. Now they’re threatening everything I fought and served for twenty-five years in the U.S. Navy, all because I repeated something every soldier is taught.”
Kelly added that he “will continue to do my job representing Arizona.”
“If Trump and Hegseth think this will keep me from doing what I’ve done every day of my adult life, which is fighting for this country, then they’ve got the wrong guy. Tomorrow and the day after, I’ll continue to do my job representing Arizona.”
