Road Accident Kills Three, Injures 18 In Eastern Afghanistan | World News

At least three people were killed and 18 others were injured in a collision involving a tractor and two passenger vehicles in Afghanistan’s eastern Laghman province, the provincial police said in a statement on Thursday.
The accident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Surkhakan area of the highway connecting the capital Kabul to eastern Nangarhar province, Xinhua News Agency reported; Three passengers, including a woman and a child, died at the scene, and 18 people were injured, many of them seriously.
Careless driving was cited as the main cause of the accident.

At least 11 people were killed and nearly 40 others were injured in five separate road incidents last week in the eastern provinces of Laghman, Khost and Ghazni, as well as northern Badakhshan and Balkh.
In war-torn Afghanistan, road accidents caused by careless driving, congested roads and lack of traffic signs on dilapidated highways remain the leading cause of accidental deaths.
On Sept. 26, provincial police said one passenger was killed and 11 others were injured in a head-on traffic collision in Afghanistan’s northern Jawzjan province.
In the statement made by the police, it was stated that one person died at the scene and 11 people were injured in the collision that occurred between two passenger cars in the Karabuyen Olya region, on the highway connecting Cevzcan to the neighboring Belh province.
The statement blamed careless driving for the accident, and stated that the injured were immediately transferred to a nearby health center for treatment, and most of them were in critical condition.
In the statement made by the state police department, it was stated that one passenger died and three people were injured when their car overturned in Laghman province in eastern Afghanistan on September 25.
In the statement, which was blamed on careless driving for the fatal accident, it was stated that the accident occurred in the Kakakh region, on the highway connecting the capital Kabul to eastern Nangarhar province, as a result of which one passenger died instantly and three people were injured.
