Prince William and Princess Kate’s ‘bold’ move ‘speaks volumes’ about their relationship | Royal | News

The Prince and Princess of Wales made a bold gesture that gave great insight into their relationship, a body language expert has claimed. Prince William and Princess Catherine played a key role in welcoming German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Budenbender at the start of their historic state visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday.

The royal couple performed their customary duties of meeting the couple at Heathrow Airport in the morning and escorting them to a dais by car on their eight-mile journey to Datchet Road in Windsor city centre. Following the official welcome at Windsor, the royal party hosted a lavish state banquet at the castle to honor their German guests.

According to a body language expert, William and Catherine displayed significant signals during their appearance together in the first half of the first day of the official visit.

Body language expert Judi James claimed the future king and queen showed two “very strong” signals about the state of their relationship during the official reception at Windsor.

“In the photographs we can see two very powerful ‘tells’ from William and Catherine that show the power of their fun and good humour,” he told the Express.

The expert explained: “In addition to dimples, Catherine’s smile features a tongue extending from between her teeth to the corner of her mouth, indicating a high level of inner amusement.

“William’s smile here features edge-to-edge teeth, which also shows how much the couple is enjoying the game.”

He added: “William’s intense face-gazing behavior when looking at his wife shows how sensitively attuned they are to each other’s nonverbal signals and how much he enjoys encouraging his wife to smile what resembles a carefree smile.”

The royal couple later dazzled at a glittering state banquet at Windsor Castle, where Catherine wore a new tiara.

The future queen greeted the King’s guests, diplomatically opting for Queen Victoria’s Oriental Ring Tiara, made of diamonds and rubies, designed for Victoria by her German-born husband, Prince Albert, in 1853.

For the white tie celebration, Catherine was dazzling in a periwinkle blue, floor-length sequined dress by Jenny Packham, with an asymmetrical neckline and flowing cape shoulder details.

She also wore the late Queen’s earrings, the Royal Family Order and the GCVO Sash and Star.

The Prince of Wales wore a white tie and Windsor tailcoat and, along with Little George, wore the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

He also wore the miniature medals, the Order of the Bath and the Gold, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee and Coronation Medal, as well as the Order of the Garter and the Order of the Thistle and the Neck Order of the Order of the Bath.
