Prince William hails ‘unstoppable optimism’ of Earthshot environmental projects ahead of awards

Following the announcement of the 2025 finalists, the Prince of Wales declared the Environmental Soil Award “Emergency optimism” at the center of “Unstoppable”.

Prince William created an award to recognize and scal the ideas for “repair” the planet, and received £ 1 million to advance the concepts of the five -winning finalists.

The winners will be introduced on Wednesday, November 5 at the Fifth Earthshot Awards in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“Welcome not only for the new finalists, but also to see the constant impact of our existing 60 finalists,” he said.

“Together, they are moving towards vital global goals that will improve and guarantee our lives and livelihoods for all of us – targeting 30% of our lands by 2030.

“It is impossible to hear the stories of these finalists, to see the effect they already have, and to see that they are not encouraged with their energies and moments.

“For me, the urgent optimism that has been in the heart of this award from the beginning. And feels unstoppable.

“The people behind these projects are the heroes of our time, so let’s bring them back. Because if we do it, we can make the world cleaner, safer and more opportunities for the lives we want to lead, not only for future generations.”

William, who concluded his message, said, “The journey to the 2030 is still to describe it. A planet that develops with the vision of these finalists and the support of all of us is already a fact.

Among the 15 finalists, there is a British company, headquartered in Bristol and lifting the biggest reason for the microplastics in the ocean.

An Earthshot Award member Actress Cate Blanchett said: “The Earthshot award has shown that five years optimism is not abstract – this is what is done by people brave enough to act.
