Prince William shares never-before-seen photo of Diana with himself as a child in poignant Mother’s Day message

The Prince of Wales shared a never-before-seen photo of the late Princess Diana in a touching Mother’s Day message.
Pictured is Diana, who turns 65 this year, in a field of flowers with two-year-old Prince William at the family’s main home in Highgrove, Gloucestershire, in 1984.
It is from the Prince’s private family collection and has never been shown to the public before.
The heartfelt caption reads: ‘I remember my mother today and every day.
‘Thinking of everyone who remembers a loved one today. Happy Mother’s Day. W’
William remembers Diana, who died in 1997 when he was 15, every year on Mother’s Day, often sharing a rare photo of the pair with a sweet caption.
Prince Harry had previously arranged for flowers to be left at his late mother’s grave that day.
As well as celebrating their mother, the Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have shared homemade cards dedicated to ‘Grandma Diana’ in recent years.

The Royal Family’s official X account also includes Queen Elizabeth II. She posted a Mother’s Day message that included two photos of Elizabeth, as well as a photo of Queen Camilla and her late mother, Rosalind Shand.
The caption reads: ‘Wishing Mothers everywhere a peaceful Mother’s Sunday and those who may miss their Mothers today.’
Ahead of Mother’s Day, Prince William proved he has always been a doting husband at a series of engagements in London on Thursday, where Princess Kate joined him.
Borough Market was gripped by ‘Walesmania’ as fans clamored for selfies as they tried to shake hands with the Princess of Wales – but it looks like William, 43, only had eyes for his wife.
The royal couple made an unannounced stop at the market before heading to Bermondsey for a pub crawl along beer street.
Throughout the day, it was clear that William was just as in love with Kate as he was when they first started dating 20 years ago.
William listened in silent admiration as the future Queen, 44, talked about giving up alcohol after her cancer diagnosis.
The pair engaged in playful banter as they tried their hand at brewing and even had a beer-drinking contest after William praised Kate’s beekeeping skills and declared she ‘knows a lot’.
As she left her last engagement of the day at the RNLI Tower Lifeboat Station, a woman shouted ‘Happy Mother’s Day, Catherine!’ he shouted.
Earlier that day, Kate paid tribute to Diana by wearing a pair of Cartier ‘Trinity’ basketball shoes that the princess loved.
The stunning sentimental piece of jewelery is believed to be a thoughtful gift to celebrate William’s 43rd birthday.
Created by Louis Cartier in the 1920s, the earrings are Kate’s sixth jewel in the Trinity collection, with three intersecting hoops thought to be a nod to her three children.
The piece is also believed to be a loving tribute to her famous mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who was an avid fan of Cartier’s ‘Trinity’ collection and often wore a distinctive Trinity ring on her little finger.
Earlier this week, Daily Mail Editor-in-Chief Richard Kay told Palace Confidential that Princess Diana believed William ‘never wanted the top job’ and was quietly working to clear the way for potential King Harry.
Kay became a close friend of Diana in the final years of her life and earned the coveted title of Royal Correspondent of the Year for covering her tragic death in Paris in the summer of 1997.
He said: ‘The generation that I had the opportunity to examine closely is the William and Harry generation. They were just babies when I started and it was so interesting to see them develop.

‘William, it was a bit of a surprise. Of course, he was a shy young man when his mother was alive. Diana used to tell me that she never thought William wanted the best job.
In her mind, Diana was preparing the way for Harry to succeed his father. He had a little nickname for him, dear King Harry. A throwback to medieval days.
‘Of course it didn’t work out that way. I think we’re all grateful they didn’t turn out that way.
‘I think the consensus is that we’ve got it right. ‘We found the right one in William, Prince of Wales.’
