The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the case related to alleged misappropriation of offers to Tirumala Srivari Hundi, known as the ‘Parakamani scam’, set up a temporary office at the Sri Padmavati rest house here on Wednesday.

A 20-member team led by Director General of Police (CID) Ravi Shankar Ayyanar will observe and understand the functioning of Parakamani (counting of coins, notes and offerings to Hundi) and initiate the investigation. The CID is expected to investigate the possible role of former TTD officials, trust board members, police personnel, Parakamani staff and auditors appointed by Jeeyar Mutt who are said to be involved in the matter.

The CID will also examine the extent of irregularities alleged to have occurred and whether due diligence was followed.

Mr. Ayyanar said that the investigation initiated on the orders of the Supreme Court will closely examine Parakamani operations, audit of managers, CCTV records, financial statements and properties donated to TTD.

Efforts are on to trace the main accused CV Ravi Kumar, who represents Jeeyar Mutt and has been associated with the institution since 1980. Hinting at his possible location in Hyderabad, Mr. Ayyanar said the CID will investigate finer details regarding properties worth ₹ 14 crore donated by him to TTD, but their collective market value is estimated to be around ₹ 40 crore.

Mr. Ayyanar called on the public to share information about the case to ensure confidentiality. The public can call 9440700921 or email adgcid@ap.gov.in.
