Princess Anne shows true colours with Christmas present for King | Royal | News

Although it’s common for members of the Royal Family to give each other silly gifts for Christmas rather than extravagant ones, this gift in particular was hilarious.

Speaking in Channel 4’s 2020 documentary A Very Royal Christmas: Sandringham Secrets, royal expert Katie Nicholl explained that gifts given by royals should be cheap joke gifts.

Dickie Arbiter, a former royal press secretary, later explained why Anne gave her brother such a gift before he became King.

The referee said: “What would we call the toilet? We would call it the throne. You go sit on your throne.”

He continued: “So buying a leather-covered toilet seat was essentially Princess Anne’s way of saying, ‘There you are, you have your own personal throne.'”

It is not known what gift the Princess Royal plans to buy her brother this year, but it is likely that they will enjoy spending time together during the holiday season.

As usual, the King will host the Christmas festivities alongside Queen Camilla at his private estate in Sandringham.

It is not yet known which royals will attend the big day.
