Princess Kate makes rare confession about Prince George | Royal | News

The Princess of Wales made a sweet statement about her eldest child, Prince George, this week. Princess Catherine led the nation in a moving two-minute silence in memory of those who died on Armistice Day.

The future Queen stood silent, still and deep in thought with veterans to honor the war dead at the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, before laying a wreath in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Wearing a military-style black jacket, a wide-brimmed black hat with a bow, and two poppies, the princess attended the ceremony for the first time.

After the ceremony, a bouquet of flowers were handed out as Catherine met students from Newport Girls’ High School and then took time to chat with D-Day veterans Alan Kennett and Geoffrey Spencer and VE and VJ Day veterans Donald (Bill) Redston.

Speaking to Mr Spencer, who served with RAF Bomber Command and repaired and flew Lancaster Bombers, the royal asked him what it was like to fly and made a confession about the second in line to the throne.

The Princess of Wales said George loved building AirFix models and was a “big fan” of the Lancaster Bomber models.

He said: “George loves building AirFix models. He’s a big fan of the Lancaster Bomber so he knows more about planes than I do.”

The future Queen held Mr Redston’s hand as the 100-year-old told him about her fitness regime, which she believes has kept her well.

Asked by the royal for his top tips, Mr Redston said he had run marathons, including the London Marathon when he was 65 and the New York Marathon when he was 66.

The Princess said the arboretum was a “special place” and that she enjoyed hearing about the personal experiences of veterans like Mr. Redston.

Before leaving the Arboretum, Catherine stopped to greet the crowd waiting to see her outside and appeared to joke about having to hold her hat in the wind as they shook hands and chatted.
