Prison officer had ‘extremely graphic’ phone sex with gangster for up to an hour | UK | News

A trainee prison officer has been arrested for having “extremely graphic” phone sex with a prisoner that lasted nearly an hour in prison. Megann Gibson was working at HMP Wealstun in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, when she became involved with gang member Ryan Horan.

Gibson, 26, allowed Horan into restricted areas of the category C prison and sent more than 900 messages to his mother to keep in touch with him. His conduct led to the publication of 102 anti-corruption intelligence reports within five months of his employment at Wealstun. Leeds Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Louise Pryke told the court the conversations between Gibson and Horan were “highly sexual and highly graphic”.

Ms. Pryke said some of the meetings lasted up to an hour, adding that the two expressed their love for each other and talked about getting married and having children after Horan’s release.

At the time he was serving an indeterminate sentence for public protection. Sun reports.

The prosecutor said Horan wrote “highly sexual” letters to Gibson and they were found in Gibson’s bedroom when he was arrested.

In a letter, Horan praised Gibson’s kiss and thanked him for smoking.

After his arrest, police found £1,000 in cash that Gibson had withdrawn from the bank to pay for the tattoo. It was revealed in court that the money was not withdrawn from the bank.

Sentencing Judge Kate Rayfield said there were concerns Gibson was smuggling contraband into the prison and was “too familiar” with some inmates.

The judge said he did not sentence Gibson for the events that triggered the corruption reports, but said they were relevant because they led to prison bosses becoming involved.

She told Gibson: “Despite this repeated disciplinary action, in which it was made clear what your employer’s concerns were, you began a relationship with inmate Ryan Horan.”

Gibson was sentenced to 12 months in prison on Friday, December 5, after pleading guilty to misconduct in a public office and possession of cannabis.
