Filmmaker Priyadarshan has finally broken his silence on Arshad Warsi’s recent tasteless comment about their hit film Hulchul on his Lallantop podcast and called the film a ‘bad experience’. Priyadarshan, who is currently busy with the post-production of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s film Haiwaan, openly expressed his displeasure about the actor and voiced his review of the 2005 hit comedy starring Akshaye Khanna and Kareena Kapoor. In an interview with Mid-day, the Hera Pheri director admitted that he was ‘shocked and hurt’ by Arshad’s thoughts on their collaboration. Giving the benefit of the doubt, Priyadarshan reacted to Warsi’s claims that he was tricked into playing a bigger role in Hulchul and said: “I was very upset (when I read what he said). I may be wrong and maybe it was misinterpreted, but I am shocked (if he complained).”

The Hungama director also revealed that Arshad called him after Hulchul became a hit and his voice was different from what he had expressed recently. “After the release, he called me and said, ‘Priyan sir, I never thought I would get this much appreciation’. Hulchul was a huge hit but Arshad said it was a flop film. This pained me; why did he say that when it was one of my hit films?” He concluded, “People loved and appreciated his performance in Hulchul. These accusations from Arshad made me very sad and deeply hurt. He had no reason to complain.”
