Pro-Hindu organisation VHP suggest AR Rahman of ‘Ghar vapasi’ over his communal remarks, say, ‘you will start getting work’

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s ‘social’ lyrics have created a new controversy. Following Rahman’s claim that he had ‘lost work’ in Bollywood over the last 8 years due to ‘social problems’, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) national spokesperson Vinod Bansal launched a scathing attack on the composer.

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s ‘social’ lyrics have created a new controversy. Following Rahman’s claim that he had ‘lost work’ in Bollywood in the last 8 years due to ‘social problems’, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) national spokesperson Vinod Bansal launched a scathing attack on the composer and suggested him to do ‘Ghar Vapasi’ and convert from Islam to Hinduism.

What did Vinod Bansal say?

Vinod Bansal suggested ‘gharwapsi’ to AR Rahman if he wanted to work with him again. “He (AR Rahman) was also a Hindu once. Why did he convert to Islam? Now do ‘gharwapsi’. Maybe you will start finding a job again,” Bansal said.

Making allegations against the composer, Bansal said that AR Rahman was aligned with a group that ‘speaks ill’ of India and the system.

The VHP leader said the composer was once “admired by all Indians and Hindus” but now instead of introspecting on why he is not getting work, he is “speaking ill of the system and maligning the entire industry”.

Bansal concludes his words as follows: ‘Such trivial statements can be made by a politician, they do not suit an artist.’

Common words of AR Rahman

In an interview with BBC Asian Network, AR Rahman shared that he has been working for many years but still feels like an outsider in Bollywood. He also claimed that he may have been missing projects for the last eight years due to ‘social reasons’. While calling Chhaava ‘divisive’, he said, “This may be a social issue, but it is not because of me.”
