Professor Green admits he ‘very nearly’ called off his wedding to Millie Mackintosh – as he reveals he’s now back in touch with his ‘beautiful’ ex-wife and reflects on their ‘trauma bond’ over undiagnosed ADHD

Professor Green ‘almost’ canceled his wedding to ex-wife Millie Mackintosh in 2013.
The 41-year-old musician has rarely spoken about his two-year marriage to the former Made In Chelsea star, 35, which ended in divorce in 2016.
During an appearance on Millie’s friend Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, Millie admitted they both felt ‘pressured’ about getting married and almost called off their lavish Somerset wedding out of ‘cold blood’.
The rapper, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, revealed that he is now back in touch with his ‘beautiful’ ex-wife and is reflecting on the former couple’s ‘trauma bond’ due to their mutual undiagnosed ADHD.
She told Jamie: ‘If it wasn’t for that pressure we might never have gotten married. It almost didn’t happen.
‘I remember talking to my two best friends, Lewis and Phoenix. “Am I scared? What’s going on here?” And someone said yes. One of them said, “No, I’m not going to bring him into this because it’s not their responsibility.”

‘I made my own decision. We made our decision and didn’t get married for the wrong reasons. We loved each other.
‘It was probably an element of traumatic bonding. And it takes a long time to get to a point where, “I had a significant part in it, at least 50%, because there were two of us in this situation and it didn’t work out.”
‘But I hope we can both move forward and find happiness and belonging.’
Describing his ex-wife as ‘gorgeous’, he said: ‘I have no hard feelings whatsoever. She’s amazing. We weren’t very good to each other back then.’
‘We were for a while and then I guess things started happening that we didn’t understand and it was more than we could ever have been.’
Millie previously admitted before their lavish wedding at Babington House in Somerset in 2013 that she knew the relationship ‘wasn’t right but I was too scared to call it off for the shame of disappointing everyone’.
Speaking on Brogan Garrit-Smith’s Getting There podcast earlier this year, Millie said she went through a ‘really tough time’ when she got divorced.
‘I think we [Professor Green] “They were both going through their own struggles, and I think we both thought we could fix each other,” she reflected on her marriage. ‘But we couldn’t.’
The 41-year-old musician has rarely spoken about his two-year marriage to The Made In Chelsea star, 35, which ended in divorce in 2016.
‘And ultimately we both had our own struggles and that just made it bigger. And it was actually quite toxic.”
Millie and Green finalized their divorce in May 2016, the same week Millie chose to go public with her former Made In Chelsea co-star boyfriend Hugo Taylor.
They got engaged the following year on the Greek island of Mykonos and married in Sussex in June 2018. They welcomed their daughter Sienna in 2020, and their daughter Aurelia the following year.
Professor Green explained that they had recently reconnected to support each other and reflect on their undiagnosed ADHD.
He said: ‘There was an undiagnosed neurological difference between the two of us. ‘We had a conversation about this recently and it makes sense.’
Appearing on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, Laing said they both felt ‘pressured’ about getting married and almost called off the wedding.
He has been open about his ADHD diagnosis, adding: ‘I’m not bothered by these things anymore, but I was for most of my life.’
The musician, who was also diagnosed with autism as an adult, explained how he now realizes he exhibited neurodiverse traits as a child, but ‘I didn’t have that understanding at the time.’
‘I went through the autism evaluation after the ADHD evaluation and wow, he was answering these questions,’ he explained.
‘When I was a kid I used to count words and flex my biceps for every word you said. It was just a calming thing in a situation that I found extremely stimulating.’
‘I didn’t have those words or understanding at the time. And because I was thought to be such a smart person, the focus was: He’s great when he’s here.’
He says he was referred to a psychiatrist as a child but was told his problems were related to his complicated upbringing, where he was raised by his grandmother after his parents’ relationship broke down when he was a teenager.
‘I saw a psychiatrist when I was a child and it all happened because my father wasn’t around or my parents weren’t raising me and that’s why I was anxious.’

‘I was also born with a problem in my digestive system and was operated on for six weeks with this problem. So it’s always been that way, physiological? Psychological? Both were at different times.’
Pro Green has made no secret of his health struggles. He revealed earlier this year that he was born with Pyloric Stenosis.
This condition affects babies from birth to six months of age, where the passage between the stomach and small intestine becomes narrowed.
It is very rare in adults and may develop due to an attributable cause.
The musician explained that his recurring dysbiosis (unbalanced bacteria irritating the stomach) worsened his condition.
Just two months later, she revealed that she had contracted Roseola from her baby boy, Slimane, after having managed to avoid the virus throughout his own childhood.
Sharing a photo of herself in bed recovering from the common viral infection, she told her followers: ‘The only adult who didn’t catch Roseola as a child had to have a son who of course did and now…’
Roseola, also known as exanthema subitum or sixth disease, is a common viral infection that primarily affects young children.
Pro Green has made no secret of his health struggles – revealing earlier this year that he was born with Pyloric Stenosis, and after managing to avoid the virus throughout his own childhood, he shared a snap at the weather after his boy contracted roseola from Slimane.
Symptoms typically include a sudden high fever followed by a rash as the fever subsides. Although uncomfortable, the disease is usually mild and resolves within a week.
The rapper gave birth to his first child with girlfriend Karima McAdams in March 2021.
Announcing the news on Instagram, he shared that his partner, 40, had given birth to their son, Slimane Ray Manderson, two weeks early.
Alongside a photo of her newborn son’s head, she also detailed her difficult pregnancies in a lengthy caption; She described it as a “rollercoaster” and admitted that during “horror upon horror” they were afraid their baby “wasn’t going to make it.”
Following her post, she was quickly congratulated by her 865,000 Instagram followers, while many of her famous friends also sent their well wishes.
