‘Prove Innocence’: Sonowal attacks Gourav Gogoi over allegations

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Any person who engages in conspiratorial activities against the nation always deserves condemnation. The allegations made against Gaurav Gogoi today that he was involved in anti-national activities must be condemned. Now Gaurav Gogoi must prove his innocence. Because the Government of India cannot forgive any force working against the nation. This is a clear fact.”
Earlier on January 28, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed details of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report that allegedly proved Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi’s “direct connection with Pakistan”. The Chief Minister said that the SIT report relates to a case registered against Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh along with Elizabeth Gogoi and Gaurav Gogoi and their alleged links with Pakistan.
“SIT has given evidence that three persons have direct links with Pakistan – Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, Elizabeth Gogoi and Gaurav Gogoi. Our cabinet ministers were shocked after seeing the presentation,” the Prime Minister told reporters.
In January, Sarma claimed that he had a Pakistani connection with Gogoi through his British wife. He reiterated the accusations and claimed that the Congress leader was a “Pakistan agent” planted by “foreign forces” and that he had evidence to prove it.
“Gaurav Gogoi is a Pakistani agent. He is a pure Pakistani agent. If he dares, file a defamation case against me. The evidence I have is 100 percent that he is a Pakistani agent. He was planted in our country by a foreign power. He is a planned person. I say this with facts. As a Prime Minister, I say that he is a pure Pakistani agent. I will prove it after giving justice to Zubeen Garg.” Sarma told reporters.
